The UK cash and carry and delivered wholesale industry moves to The Belfry on April 3 & 4 to hold its annual conference with the theme of 'Heart of the Community'.

Industry leaders will focus on how the link between the independent retailer and the community has grown in importance in recent years as other community stalwarts have diminished, and how the wholesale sector is supporting that vital resource.

The conference will take place in the wake of the decision by the Office of Fair Trading to call for a review of the grocery market. Expert speakers will discuss the domination of the market by the big four grocers and what actions the competition authorities may be forced to take in order to curb their domination of the market, and the damage their manipulation of the market can cause to independent retailers and wholesalers.

John Murphy, director general of FWD, said: "Suppliers and wholesalers look forward to a comprehensive review of our marketplace and its issues from the industry's leaders, and one of the year's best opportunities to network and socialise with their peers."
