This month has seen a major upheaval in the foodservice sector as, to the surprise of some, a consortium including DBC Foodservice won the massive contract to supply to the UK's armed forces.

In the process it unseated the current holder of the contract, its much bigger rival 3663, which has held the contract for the past nine years.

To find out how DBC plans to enhance its infrastructure in order to cope with this massive new commitment, we spoke to DBC managing director Peter Judge in his first interview since the deal was announced (see next page).

Also in this edition of our Foodservice section, Peter Backman analyses the wider delivered wholesale sector, and predicts that despite intense competition from other distribution channels the future looks promising.

We also have our monthly round-up of new products and promotions, looking at what's likely to be making an impression over the next few months.
