Booker has raised concerns with the British Retail Consortium director general Kevin Hawkins over his comments about the Sudan 1 crisis.

Booker has raised concerns with the British Retail Consortium director general Kevin Hawkins over his comments about the Sudan 1 crisis.

In an interview on BBC Radio 4 News he referred to the difficulty in giving information to smaller shops and went on to recommend consumers should “stick to the supermarkets for the moment, then you’ll be safe”.

In a letter to Hawkins, Booker marketing director Mark Collier said: “My concern lies in that we are members of the BRC and the BRC represents all retailers in the UK and should not favour one sector over another. Our customers have been fully communicated with and I doubt if many other members will be writing direct to their customers.”
