James Hall & Co has announced plans to spend more than £30m on a replacement for its current depot. The Preston-based Spar regional distribution company intends to develop a 484,000sq ft depot on the outskirts of the city.
It is hoped that the new site will be fully operational within three years. In addition to the warehouse the plans include 32,000sq ft of offices, a 7,500sq ft training facility, a 2,960sq ft Spar store, a petrol filling station and crèche.
James Hall & Co is based in the north west and provides close to 500 Spar stores in the north of England with products and services. Andrew Hall, managing director of James Hall & Co, said: "This means we will be able to continue to supply the increasing number of company and independently owned SPAR stores with all the services that are required to be successful in today's market."
