Five wholesalers will make presentations at the 2006 Drinksummit which takes place at The Oxford Belfry, off the M40, on June 8 and 9.

The event, the top drinks trade conference of its kind, will also attract a programme including key supplier papers.

Booker, Landmark Wholesale, Costco, Nisa-Today's and Musgrave Budgens Londis will address the key issues from a wholesale perspective, informing delegates of how their drinks programmes are progressing.

The theme for the day is "What the local shopper wants: discuss".

Wholesalers and suppliers will address the theme from their own company perspective.

Drinksummit was launched in 1989 to fill a vacuum in the conference calendar caused by the absence of a specific drinks event focusing on the wholesale sector - a market which accounts for about 40% of all alcohol sales.

In 1994, Drinksummit saw the launch of the Take Home Blueprint initiatives which, for the first time, gave the independent retailer a benchmark of guidance of integrity on which he could increase sales.

Thousands of retailers have implemented the Blueprints for ales, lagers and ciders, ARTDs, wines and also spirits and fortified wines, and have seen increases in off licence sales.

The Blueprint Retailer of the Year will also be revealed at the conference.
