Dawsonrentals supplies units up to 50ft long |
With the Working Time Directive restricting drivers to a 48-hour average working week, Dawsonrentals Portable Cold Storage is urging companies to use extra storage capacity to reduce transport movements.
Managing director Rod Benham said that after traffic congestion and fuel prices the 48-hour working week was just another restriction on moving goods around the UK, and more companies were considering reducing movements and hiring storage facilities.
He said: “We supplied a unit for Aarhus United UK, a division of Anglia Oils Ltd. It was transporting chilled product from Kilmarnock to a food producer in Cornwall and the unit enabled it to save two trips a week. The fuel saving alone, even before driver and vehicle running costs were taken into consideration, exceeded the cost of the unit and power on site.”
The unit supplied to Aarhus was a 31-pallet superbox unit which was 40ft long (12.19m) and 12.5ft wide (3.8m), but Dawsonrentals can supply a larger single unit 50ft (15.24m) long by 12.5ft (3.8m) with dual refrigeration to ensure product integrity.
Both units are also available in a high-roof version and all units can be supplied with an elevation platform, with adjustable leg height, to go up against a docking platform.
Dawsonrentals will also assemble a modular complex to the customer requirement, which can be open plan or compartmentalised.
