Today’s Group has reported sales across its grocery, impulse and licensed categories ahead of target for the third quarter, with an overall performance up 6% year-on-year.

Rodney Hunt, Today’s managing director, described the group’s grocery category as its “star performer”, with its 9.7% increase, boosted by coffee up 20.5%, breakfast cereals at 17.6% and biscuits at 3.8%.

“Our overall impulse category is also trading at a robust +5.1%, and within licensed, cider and wine have rocketed to +21% and +35.4% respectively - considerable increases from last quarter,” he reported.

The group has also recorded strong non-food sales with household laundry up 13.46%, petcare at +13.6% and paper at +7%.

“Trading figures for this quarter are testament to the high level of member and supplier support, without which, we could not have achieved these results. The group’s growing membership and recruitment drive, boosted by its leading symbol group package and trading teams, will ensure it will enter 2006 very strongly,” he added.
