CHARITY APPEAL

Following a successful appeal last year, which helped to feed homeless people over the Christmas period, convenience retailers and their suppliers are launching a similar appeal for the charity Crisis this year.

Anyone wishing to support Crisis with products should contact Chris Davies on 07831 244 877, 01326 565425 or chris.davies@spar.co.uk.

FRAUD INITIATIVE

The Gin & Vodka Association and the Scotch Whisky Association have signed a Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) designed to cement co-operation in tackling alcohol fraud and smuggling into and out of the UK.

Edwin Atkinson, director general of the Gin & Vodka Association, said: “Because gin and vodka is the largest sector in the UK spirits market, the industry is well placed to provide information that could have a significant impact on spirits fraud and these agreements reflect this.”

TECHNOLOGY AWARD

Delivered wholesaler Blueheath has won the National E-Champion title at the annual DTI/InterForum

E-Commerce Awards for its application of e-technology in the independent grocery retail sector.

Blueheath also won the London Regional and National “best integrated business” categories, and beat off competition from 71 small and medium-size organisations across the UK to lift the trophy and the £50,000 prize for the overall title.

DEPT RELOCATION

Booker has relocated its Salisbury depot to Unit 5, Harnham Business Park, off Netherhampton Road, Salisbury. All customer records have been transferred to make the relocation as smooth as possible.
