Landmark Cash & Carry has changed its name to Landmark Wholesale in a bid to reflect more closely its 30 wholesale members.

Managing director Martin Williams said the group had changed since its inception in 1974 when it comprised solely cash and carries, and it now served independent retailers, caterers and foodservice operators through delivered and cash and carry channels.

“As we are run by members for members we believe the time is right to truly reflect the different ways our wholesale members deliver their products and services to their customers,” said Williams.

“This process of change is not just in our title and our logo, but is a result of an extensive internal review where we have further reinforced our commitment to professionalism, integrity and technology.

“Our fresh approach means we will be talking to suppliers on a new basis looking for business plans to address our members’ three categories of trading – retail, catering and foodservice.”

Marketing director Chris Rose said the change in emphasis would mean further investment in Landmark’s Hot House project to develop retailers’ business.

He said the group was on target to have carried out 500 Hot House conversions by the end of the year and average uplifts in sales for retailers taking part was 28.8%.

Rose said the group would also be making announcements on new and additional own label ranges in the next few months.
