Two major developments were announced at the recent Today’s supplier presentations by trading director Nick Barker. The group is set to relaunch its private label and introduce a new IT system for analysing member data.

The new private label will be exclusive to Today’s members, setting it apart from the Nisa-Today’s Heritage brand it previously shared with its retail arm, Nisa. The new range is due to be launched in March and encompasses 61 lines in total. It will be designed to meet the specific needs of the wholesale sector with bright, high-impact packaging and, most importantly, said Barker, price-marking. The range will include canned vegetables, petcare, hot beverages, soft drinks and juices, paper, laundry, household, preserves, edible oils, sauces, condiments and non-food.

The group has also invested in a new IT system, Sandersons Business Intelligence, to enable it to analyse member data.

The new system will allow the trading department to download member data to identify and track performance of products, which will speed up the decision-making process and ensure that the right products and pack sizes are promoted.

Rodney Hunt, Today’s managing director, commented: “Price-marked own brand has always been a successful area for the group and we’re delighted that we can now reintroduce it to the membership.”
