The Catersummit Cup was awarded at this year’s event to Heinz Foodservice.

Seventeen manufacturers supplying the foodservice sector were nominated for the award by wholesalers, but John Murphy, director general of the Federation of Wholesale Distributors, said Heinz was a clear winner in the vote by members.

Murphy said: “This is a unique award for new products, services or other new ideas which wholesalers have noted as a contribution to their progress in this market.”

Previous winners were Cadbury Trebor Bassett, P&G and United Biscuits and last year the trophy was won by Kraft Foods AFH.

The other companies nominated for the award this year were Costa & Co, Cadbury Trebor Bassett, Ilchester Cheese, Johnson Diversey, Masterfoods, McCains, McPhie of Glenbervie, Nestlé UK, Unilever, Britvic, Walkers, Reckitt Benckiser, RHM, McBride, Silver Spoon and Westlers.
