A new flagship frozen, fresh and chilled distribution centre has been opened by 3663 at Larbert near Falkirk. The £3.5m, 34,660sq ft depot will serve the whole of Scotland.

With support from Scottish Enterprise Forth Valley (SEFV), 3663 has relocated its distribution centre to Larbert from its previous depot in Denny, retaining its existing 70 employees and creating a further 23 full-time positions.

Depot manager Andrew Watson commented: “This new facility is the first step in our expansion plans. We aim to take full advantage of the boom in the foodservice market and have ambitious plans to double our turnover in five years.”

The new depot is designed to become a regional centre for excellence within the industry in Scotland. A key feature is a demonstration kitchen enabling development chefs to create meal solutions which customers can sample on-site.

The depot has PC controlled airflow and vacuum-sealed loading bays, combined with hundreds of temperature sensors, to ensure frozen, fresh and chilled products are received, stored and distributed in optimum condition.
