Smint mints: new distribution company

Confectionery companies Chupa Chups and Perfetti van Melle have joined forces to create a new UK company following the collapse of Food Brokers.

Chupa Chups Perfetti van Melle UK will be set up to market and distribute the portfolio of brands from the two companies which include Chupa Chups lollipops and Smint mints, while Perfetti van Melle has Fruittella chews and Mentos.

It is projected that the new company will have an annual turnover of £30m and lead to the creation of 50 new jobs.

Chupa Chups UK managing director Graham Dyer will be appointed MD of the new company.

He said: “This is a very exciting time for us. By creating this new company, we can take greater control of the supply chain and streamline our ordering and distribution processes to improve the service UK retailers and wholesalers receive from us.

“Furthermore, we see this as the perfect opportunity to forge much closer relationships direct with our customers and extend the footprint of our brand portfolios.”
