Williams: hard work and investment

Landmark has reported strong sales growth in the first six months of 2005, with its top 70 branded suppliers across 11 major product categories, recording sales value up 5.5%, following a 6% overall increase in 2004.

Impulse categories helped drive these figures with soft drinks up 5.6% and confectionery up 6.5%. Licenced sales were also up substantially with beer up 14.7%, cider up 32.9%, wine up 25.8% and spirits up 24.1%. Other strong performers were pet food up 14.2%, paperware up 16.9%, grocery up 8.6% and non food up 11.5%.

“This is a fantastic performance by Landmark members and is a direct reflection of the hard work and investment we have put in,” said managing director Martin Williams.

“Close collaboration with all our major suppliers has contributed to this great performance along with the success of our Hot House retail development programme where both wholesalers and their retail customers are enjoying significant growth.”

He said additional resources had been put in place to accelerate Hot House conversions and accommodate independent retailers wanting to take part in the Hot House programme.
