The Today’s Group has announced trading figures for the second quarter of the year, recording an overall performance up 8.5% year-on-year.
Rodney Hunt, Today’s managing director, revealed that the group’s grocery category was its star performer with sales up 12.5%, boosted by breakfast cereals within it at 14.3%, biscuits at 12.2% and coffee and tea at 6.5% and 6.4% respectively.
“Licensed figures were also growing strongly, up 8.3% overall, with wine as the star performer at 40%, spirits at 6.9% and beers and lagers and cider at 3.9% and 4.3% respectively,” added Hunt.
“Our impulse categories have remained strong with sugar and chocolate confectionery recording 7.9% and 6% growth and the soft drinks category is consistently fruitful at 6.4%.”
