Hyperama Cash & Carry has announced plans to open its third cash and carry depot this autumn in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire.

A 55,000sq ft former Royal Mail building is being converted with a total investment of more than £3m. It is located in Padholme Road East, on the Eastern Industrial Estate. The building offers over 100 parking places and a covered loading area for customers.

Hyperama has appointed Gary Love, previously manager of Booker in Cambridge, to run the new business and he will be assisted by another former Booker manager from Cambridge, Roger Pleasants.

Managing director Robert Lowe said: “After two years of consolidation, we are very happy to announce this multi-million pound investment.

“Our research indicates there is a great deal of development potential in the area and it is particularly strong for all three of our customer profiles – retail, catering and professional business users.”

“Under the guidance of our chairman Mark Johal, we have recently made a substantial investment into IT and introduced centralised buying and accounting. This has improved stock control, supply chain and cashflow management and helped to reduce overheads by as much as 25%.

“In a fierce and increasingly competitive marketplace, these measures have resulted in a business that is stable, profitable and ready for further expansion.”
