Michael Barrett

Crown Crest (Leicester) plc has made two senior appointments to its £150m turnover delivered wholesale business.

Michael Barrett, formerly general manager, multiple convenience and impulse and also head of sales, cake division at Premier Foods has taken over as managing director, and Malcolm Grantham, formerly business sector controller, general sales and out of home at Tetley, has been appointed sales director.

Barrettt has taken over from Aziz Tayub, chief executive of the Crown Crest Group, to allow him to concentrate on other parts of the business.

Barrett said: "Having worked closely with the Crown Crest business while at Premier, I could see the continued success and growth there was within the business and indeed the opportunities to develop it even further. So, following a number of discussions with Aziz, we agreed the management structure and plan and I made the move."

Malcolm Grantham

Grantham said they had been tasked with growing turnover to £200m. Grantham will be concentrating on expanding the company's distribution while one of Barrett's priorities will be increasing the supplier base. Grantham said: "It's a twin strategy of having more to sell and more places to sell to."

Crown Crest's delivered business has nationwide coverage serving independent retailers and chains in the discount and value channel.
