The Today's Group has reported sales up 12.8% year-on-year in its second quarter, and a 5.4% increase in volume.
The licensed category achieved the highest levels of growth, up 26%, and grocery was up 7.5%, with breakfast cereals performing strongly at +10.3%.
Impulse grew by 5.1%, with chocolate confectionery up 9.5%, and crisps, snacks and nuts, and soft drinks showing growth of 6.4% and 3.6% respectively. Non-food increased by 2.3%, with paper up 10.2% and pet care trading at +5.6%.
Today's Group trading director Nick Barker commented: "To be experiencing such strong trading figures given the current economic downturn is particularly impressive and we are very pleased to be in such a positive position.
"It's encouraging to see growth across the entire category portfolio and I'm confident we can continue to trade successfully in the next quarter."
