Dennis and Linda Williams of Broadway Convenience Store in Edinburgh, who won the MSYS retailer of the Year Gold Medal, had a successful National Cuppa Day.
Working with Malcolm Grantham, Tetley UK's business sector controller, general sales and out of home, and David Hornyak, regional sales manager at United Biscuits UK, they started serving teas from 10am onwards, giving customers somewhere to escape from the weather and stop for a chat.
The event was also linked with a visit from the Blood Bank, to tie in with National Blood Donors week.
Linda said: "We were not overwhelmed with people, due to the weather, but this allowed us to talk to people. Building relationships and goodwill by offering a personal service."
She said it is a service she is keen to provide again next year.
Will Government proposals to ban the display of tobacco in retail premises damage the wholesale sector?
