Coca-Cola Enterprises won the FWD Gold Medal for Overall Service to the Retail Sector. Darren Goldney, trading controller, commented: "We are delighted to win the FWD Gold Medal Award. As the annual award is voted for by the entire wholesaler community, we believe that to come out on top is a great testimony to the hard work and cross functional efforts from people across all areas of CCE.
"CCE is now one of the leading operators in the UK impulse channel, with a presence in more than 40,000 impulse outlets nationwide.
"The wholesale channel remains hugely important to CCE and our research indicates that 90% of wholesalers believe the best selling drink in the UK is 'Coca-Cola' and CCE will continue to focus on this important channel.
"Research has shown that 65% of cash and carry retailers admit to not following planograms and that 25% of cash and carry retailers still group their soft drinks by brands rather than by sector.
"We would advise wholesalers to group soft drinks by sector, placing all carbonated soft drinks together, and all sports & energy drinks together, and stay fully stocked to ensure that they don't miss out on sales."
Will Government proposals to ban the display of tobacco in retail premises damage the wholesale sector?
