SWEET SIX APPEAL

Hancocks has added six new lines to its weighout sweets range which already comprises more than 300 lines. Purchasing director Richard Brittle commented: “The range of weighout products that Hancocks offers is a real strength to the company. Customers understand that this is a really high margin sector of the confectionery market, which can help to give their profits a good boost. ”

CHOICE IS HEALTHY

Brakes has launched six new products into its Healthier Choices range, taking the total number of products in the range to nearly 50.

Healthier Choices products has been developed to meet strict nutritional criteria, and are either: low in fat containing no more than 3% fat with reduced or restricted levels of sodium and sugar; or have had the amount of fat reduced by at least 30% compared to their standard equivalent Brakes product, with reduced or restricted levels of sodium and sugar.

TRANSFER FOR BECK'S

Scottish & Newcastle (S&N) and InBev have reached agreement for Interbrew UK to assume distribution rights for Beck’s in the UK from S&N. The existing distribution agreement was due to expire in 2012.

The agreement will bring forward the date on which the Beck’s brand will be fully integrated into the Interbrew UK portfolio by seven years, and the transfer should be completed by August 7.

SOCCER SPONSORSHIP

Heineken has renewed its contract with UEFA to sponsor the Champions League for a further three years running, from the 2006/2007 season to the 2008/2009 season. The Heineken brand will take over the sponsorship of the tournament from Amstel, starting from the 2005/2006 season.
