Deal will unite Mace ownership in the UK

Palmer & Harvey McLane last week made a presentation to Scottish Mace retailers in Aberdeen after its deal to acquire Mace in Scotland.

P&H is due to complete the acquisition from Somerfield on July 11, uniting owership of the Mace brand in England Scotland and Wales.

Its Dunfermline branch will take over responsibility for deliveries from the Aberness depot in Aberdeen, which will close.

At the meeting P&H presented its support package for Mace members in Scotland, including a business “health check” programme. This includes the ProShopper blueprint facility, providing a space planning, merchandising and planogram service.

Scottish Mace retailers will now also be able to purchase the own-label M brand range.

Mark Dallinson, symbol general manager at P&H, said: “This acquisition means P&H can focus on providing a unifying strategy to develop the Mace brand for England, Scotland and Wales, which can only benefit Mace retailers.”

l Mace subsidiary Winerite has won a contract to distribute to the 235-store Wine Cellar group, estimated to be worth £42m a year.
