Bestway Cash & Carry has received approval from the Office of Fair Trading for its acquisition of Batleys Cash & Carry.

Bestway said since the deal was completed on January 28 it has focused on ensuring that the transition from a 31 depot company to a 49 depot company was managed smoothly and efficiently.

It said Batleys depots were already stocking a range of Bestway’s own-brand, Best-in products and Park Road tobacco lines and early sales figures were encouraging. In addition, Bestway depots were stocking the Batleys’ Buddies cup drinks and ice pops.

Negotiating responsibilities have been split between Bestway’s head office at Park Royal and Batleys’ Leeds HQ, overseen by Kaiser Yousaf at Park Royal.

“Current trading in the Batleys depots is very encouraging,” said Geoff Monk, Bestway group marketing manager. “Batleys customers have responded very positively to the change of ownership.”
