Serious Food Distribution (SFD), the Slough-based speciality foodservice distributor, has invested in an Accord system from supply chain solutions specialist Business Computer Projects (BCP).

SFD chose BCP's Accord food service system, investing in a complete solution to encompass purchasing, sales order management, stock control, telesales and financial accounting. The system went live at all depots over the course of a two-month period and SFD now has a single IT solution controlling its operations and reporting key sales, products and buying information.

Vince Price, divisional director of SFD, said: "We could see that Accord's proactive telesales would transform our telesales operation, allowing us to sell rather than just take orders.

"The logistics guys rave about Accord, and the way it's allowed them to have a much more flexible approach to logistics and planning customer deliveries on particular rounds of particular days."

According to BCP, better stock control and more flexible logistics have resulted in significant improvements in SFD's service levels which are now at around 99%.
