Scotland-based CJ Lang & Son Limited has invested in its Edwards Cash & Carry depot in Aberdeen to refurbish its chilled, frozen and non food categories and transfer its catering equipment division from a mezzanine level to the main depot floor. New office accommodation has also been added.

Eddie Ross, general manager said: "Catering equipment is an extremely successful area of the business for us and although it has always been available to cash and carry customers it has not always been readily accessible. Since the move we have seen a marked increase in customers entering the department and caterers and retailers alike are showing more interest in the product range available."

In addition to moving the catering equipment, the refurbishment of the chilled, frozen and non-foods area included replacing the chiller unit and freezers and installing new ceilings, lighting and shelving.

Ross added "The whole exercise has resulted in improved utilisation of available space. We reduced the floor space for both our chilled and non-foods areas without reducing the shelf capacity, and customers have been commenting that it is now considerably easier for them to shop these sections.
