Country Range Group has recorded "fantastic growth", even before one of its members clinched a £6m contract, according to managing director Colin Birchall.
Sales of branded and the foodservice group's own brand products in the first six months of this year were both up between 14% to 15% compared to the same period last year, he said.
Chris Creed, corporate director of Country Range, said: "Our customers know they can rely on the quality and consistency of our products and service - and they know they are always going to get it at a competitive price."
Creed's company, Creed Catering Supplies, one of the group's 16 independent members, has won the £6m contract to supply the restaurants of Wyevale Garden Centres nationwide. The 65 garden centres range from York to Penzance and Creed Catering will deliver from its base in Gloucestershire. It has invested in six new 6.5 ton and two new 3.5 ton multi-temperature vehicles to add to its fleet and will be recruiting 20 new permanent members of staff.
Karl Goodwin, commercial director of Creed Catering, said: "This is a great achievement for Creed. Although we are an independent business, it is clear that Wyevale has recognised the emphasis we place on quality and service, and our ability to step up to the challenge of this major national account."
