Batleys has launched a guidance pack for retailers in its Xtra Local retail club to help them develop their convenience offering.
Xtra Local was set up 18 months ago, offering members exclusive deals and support, and since then almost 600 independent retailers have been recruited. The new pack, called Perfect Store, provides retailers with advice from key suppliers such as Cadbury, Nestlé, Walkers, Coors, Unilever and Scottish & Newcastle.
Batleys operations director Martin Race said: "We also wanted to include an unbiased view of category management. It's important that the retailer understands the benefits of simple category management.
"Working with our suppliers, Perfect Store has been launched with category plans for confectionery, feminine/baby care and paper. As time moves on, all major categories will be covered with crisps and snacks and soft drinks planned as the next sectors to follow."
