Steve Blackmore has been appointed to the newly created post of supply chain and management information director at Spar UK after five years as retail director.
His appointment coincides with the launch this month of an inbound supply chain service provided by Exel Logistics, which will consolidate Spar buying of goods from 50 suppliers across the UK mainland RDCs.
It follows the announcement by managing director Jerry Marwood that Spar is seeking greater collaboration between retailers, RDCs and suppliers.
Blackmore commented: “We are seeking to improve the quality and availability of both internal data and that which relates to our competitors.”
