Ways that retailers, suppliers and wholesalers can work together to improve the offer to consumers will be the subject a presentation by Trevor West, trading director, convenience channel, of Masterfoods.

He says: "Consumers are looking for the right products to be available at a reasonable price, backed up by friendly, efficient service. Retailers, wholesalers and suppliers should be working together, harnessing each others strengths, to deliver against this."

In his paper he will be looking at how this can be done.

West joined Mars (Pedigree Petfoods) as a modern languages graduate in 1977 and had roles in sales and trade marketing before moving into national accounts, covering multiple grocery and later wholesale.

In 2001, the Mars Confectionery, Petcare and Mainmeal businesses were merged to form Masterfoods, where he managed all three categories in the impulse sector.

He is currently trading director for the convenience channel, responsible for petcare and mainmeal sales through convenience retail, cash and carry and wholesale outlets.
