'Diversity Equals Strength' is conference theme for SWA

The Scottish Wholesale Association annual conference's theme this year is 'Diversity Equals Strength'.

SWA president Norman Wemyss, business development director (multi-temp) of 3663, will give a keynote presentation outlining the association's key achievements since last year's conference, some of the challenges facing the SWA and its members, and the big issues affecting the wholesale industry in 2007.

Speakers already confirmed for 2007 include Iain Hill managing director Iain Hill, Brakes regional chief executive Bob Lamb and Sutherland Brothers sales director Colin Sangster.

Suppliers who will be speaking include PepsiCo UK and Ireland president Salman Amin, GlaxoSmithKline trading director Stacy Wallace, Kraft Foods away from home director of sales Richie Gray, Unilever Foodsolutions managing director Simon Marshall and Whyte & Mackay cash and carry channel manager Ian Davidson.

Karren Brady the award-winning business woman who has been managing director of Birmingham City Football Club will close the Saturday business session.

Kate Salmon, executive director of the SWA, said: "We have a truly excellent line-up of speakers this year with a well-balanced mix of key figures from the industry covering both the retail and catering sectors and, of course, a number of SWA member wholesalers."

The conference will take place May 18-20 at the Dunblane Hydro.
