Swadling will join the retail sales team, taking charge of a team of retail sales managers who cover the Midlands through to the north west of England and North Wales.

He has spent nine years at Londis in the trading team, as category manager for beers/wines/spirits/tobacco.

Before joining Londis in 1997 Swadling worked for Balfour and Grand Metropolitan, both in trading roles.

Swadling said: "It's good to have the opportunity to broaden my experience and get to know the retailers better at the coal face. I hope that my knowledge gained from my days at head office will enable me to work with the RSMs and retailers in a creative way in the field."
