Blueheath has appointed Gary Smith to a newly created position of group buying director.
Smith has more than 30 years buying experience in the UK food industry, including senior buying roles as Safeway and Sainsbury's. He was commercial manager for grocery at Safeway.
Smith will be responsible for setting and delivering the buying and marketing strategy across all three fascias, CTM, AC Ward and Blueheath. Smith said: "My aim is to build relationships and drive strategy with our suppliers, as well as developing partnerships with the key groups."
Mark Aylwin, CEO of Blueheath, said: "Gary's wealth of experience will be a huge asset in driving forward the group's trading strategy."
