Sales for Today's Group's third quarter were up 5% year-on-year, exceeding performance expectations across its grocery, impulse and licensed categories.
Rodney Hunt, managing director of Today's Group, said: "Our overall impulse category is also trading well, with its star performer being soft drinks up 7.9%, which performed extremely well during the summer months.
"Within licensed, the overall figure is also strong up 8%, with spirits leading the way at 9.8%, wine at 8.9% and beers and lagers at a very respectable 8%."
Hunt said the figures reflected a strong summer of sales and cited the Football Crazy campaign, which generated sales volumes across a number of depots.
