United Wholesale (Scotland) has opened its first dedicated delivery depot. Located at Queenslie, north of Glasgow, it will offer 1,000 ambient lines to customers, complementing the group's two cash and carries in south Glasgow.
Sales and distribution director Michael Koetsier said he expected that turnover from the new depot in the first year would be about £40m, giving the group a total turnover of £150m next year.
However, he said turnover from the depot was expected to climb to around £100m within three years.
The depot was launched after a high-profile campaign. It included billboards featuring a picture of United managing director Athif Sarwar and the strapline "Traders of Scotland unite - the revolution is coming to you".
