Mike Fitton has joined AF Blakemore to take on the role of retail sales director for Spar Distribution.
He is responsible for all recruitment and services to the division's 505 independent retailer accounts.
Fitton previously worked for Musgrave Budgens Londis for 11 years. He was head of retail support with Budgens where he was responsible for more than 100 stores mainly located in the south of England.
He was heavily involved in the creation of the company's wholesale business six years ago.
Fitton said: "It is my aim to make the most of the benefits of the Spar brand name and combine this with the benefits of the Blakemore family business and values."
