AJ Foods is the newest member to join the Landmark Wholesale group, taking Landmark's membership to 30 in total.
The cash and carry business is family owned and based in Blackburn, and will officially open later this month. It is run by brothers Amran, Isthka and Ashiq Hussain along with their father. This is their first venture into wholesale, having previously owned and run a chain of takeaways and convenience stores.
Dave Collick, marketing director at AJ Foods, said: "The family have over 27 years of experience operating a chain of fast food and retail outlets in Blackburn, so decided to launch into the wholesale sector. The experience they have gained from being the other side of the counter will surely help in their knowledge of what their customers want from a cash and carry wholesaler."
The depot will be 17,500sq ft and will carry more than 8,000 lines including impulse, confectionery, crisps, snacks, soft drinks, grocery and non-grocery lines, pet foods, toiletries, catering, cigarettes, bread and milk.
AJ Foods plans to offer a full cash and carry and delivered operation to the 15,000 retail and takeaway outlets in and around the Blackburn area.
Landmark Wholesale managing director Martin Williams said: "Like the majority of our members, AJ Foods is owned and run by a family who have immense experience in the sector."
Will Government proposals to ban the display of tobacco in retail premises damage the wholesale sector?
